Is electrolysis always permanent?

Yes, if it's done correctly. The FDA has specified that needle electrolysis remains the ONLY method of permanent hair removal. For more specific information please see our menu tab:

Who is a good candidate for electrolysis?

Everyone except children under 12! We treat men, women, teenagers, and specialize in the treatment of African-Americans and Transgender individuals.

Is electrolysis expensive?

Electrolysis is a very cost-effective method of permanent hair removal in which unwanted hair can be permanently removed from most body areas. The overall cost is tied to each individual's recommended treatment plan.

Does electrolysis treat all hair types?

Yes! Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis can treat all types of hair including blond, grey, and red hair. We also specialize in the treatment of ingrown hair.

What is Multi-Modality?

Electrolysis is a generic term that refers to the three methods of permanent hair removal:

The Thermolysis Method uses high-frequency to produce heat to destroy the hair growth cells.
• The Galvanic Method applies a current which causes the chemistry of the follicle to change thereby destroying the hair producing cells.
• The Blend Method combines both thermolysis and galvanic simultaneously.

Each of these modalities is different but they all achieve the same results - permanent hair removal.

Is one electrology method most effective?

The Thermolysis, Galvanic, and Blend Methods are the only methods used at the present time. All three are legitimate and effective if they are done by a competent practicioner. We, at Mishael's Electrolysis Center, LLC prefer the Thermolysis method because it provides the quickest and most cost effective results for our clients.

How long should hair grow before having treatments?

Shaving and Clipping 1-2 days growth is sufficient
Tweezing 1 tweezing period if tweezing once a week. Let hair grow one week.
Waxing 2-3 weeks after last waxing
Depilatories 5-7 days
Bleaching 7-10 days

How much hair can be removed in one treatment?

The amount of hair that can be removed in one treatment depends upon the sensitivity of the client and the proficiency of the electrologist.

Why choose electrolysis over laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal does not provide permanent hair removal. Electrolysis is the ONLY method that is approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal. You may get some reduction in hair growth with the laser, however, long term safety of the patient's skin and health has not been evaluated yet with the laser method. Also, unlike the laser, electrolysis can treat all types of hair including blond, grey, and red hair. It also treats ingrown hair. Simply put, electrolysis is the best method to remove unwanted hair permanently. But electrolysis only works when done by a qualified electrologist.

What is a CPE Board Certified Electrologist?

CPE stands for Certified Professional Electrologist. The CPE is a designation that indicates that the electrologist has successfully passed comprehensive national testing that is developed by the American Electrology Association in order to establish specific standards for the electrolysis profession. An electrologist who is awarded the CPE Credential must fulfill continuing education requirements in order to maintain the prestigious CPE status.
